Still Life – “The Found Image”

The objects in which I found were – a glazed painted pot horse, a large zebra door stop and a bottle with lights in. This was all given to me in an Iceland bag with grass on it, which was very appropriate!

I like this image as it makes the horse look like it is in its natural environment, due to the grass on the bottom of the bag. This is a nice looking image in terms of colour, as the colour of the horse and overall colour temperature is very warm. As well as this, the horse is framed very well within the composition, and therefore making it look more appealing.

This photo is very interesting as I liked the sheer difference in size between the 2 animals within the frame, making the photo ironic, in a sense. As well as this, the texture of the zebra looks very interesting and intriguing as a result of the light and focus of the overall composite. As well as this, the contrast in colours between the 2 animals is impressive as the audiences’ gaze is directed to one of the two animals, as opposed to both of them as a result of this contrast, making the photograph more interesting and multi-dimensional.

Finally, I really like this photo because of, again, the contrast in colours. The warm temperature of the light draws the audiences’ attention directly to the centre of the frame. As well as this, the light from the neck of the bottle acts as a leading line towards the stars and light within the bottle itself, as the light travels from the top of the bottle towards its body. Also, the sharp focus is interesting as, again, attention is drawn directly to the object in centre frame.
